Welcome to the Home Page for the Woodburn Public Works Maintenance Services Division comprised of two sections:

Within the City limits, the Maintenance Services Division is responsible for the maintenance of the City streets, storm drainage, and rights-of-way. This includes patching and sweeping pavement, grading, maintaining more than 1300 signs, painting and striping, street tree trimming, street leaf removal, sanding streets during winter storms, cleaning more than 1,000 catch basins, mowing, and maintaining drainage ditches. The Maintenance Services Division constructs streets and installs storm sewers.

Street Maintenance Section

The Street Maintenance Section is involved with several projects year around. Major responsibilities for this section are City street pavement, grading, street signs, painting and striping, street tree trimming, street leaf removal, and sanding streets. The Section staff maintains a high level of safety precautions, following OSHA equipment and procedure requirements, and provides support to the Engineering Division during construction projects. To report a street sign repair, please contact our office at (503)982-5236 or e-mail servicerequest.maintenance@ci.woodburn.or.us and the request will be forwarded to the appropriate personnel.

Holiday Tree Recycling Program

The Public Works Department in conjunction with Allied Waste Management and local Boys Scouts are assisting Woodburn residents with Holiday tree drop-off recycling. All Holiday trees must be free of decorations, which includes tinsel. The location is the parking area on Second Street behind the Woodburn Post Office between Lincoln Street and Grant Street and will be staffed by City employees, who will advise you on the recycling. Allied pick-up service is available for Woodburn residents, who are physically unable to drop-off their Holiday Tree. Trees should be placed on the curb-side. Please Note - The Boy Scouts' service is by donation.

El Departamento de Obras Publicas junto con Allied Waste Management y los Exploradores locales estarán ayudando a los residentes de Woodburn con la reciclación de los pinos navideños. Los pinos deben de ser sin decoración. El lugar para reciclar es en el área de estacionamiento en la Calle Second (Segunda) de tras de la Oficina de Correos entre las calles Lincoln y Grant (vea el mapa incluido), personal del departamento estará disponible. Allied tendrá servicio de recoger los pinos a domicilio para ser reciclados, pero solamente para residentes que no puedan llevar el pino navideño al lugar antes mencionado y el pino debe ser colocado en la orilla del bordillo. El servicio por Exploradores son con donación.

Facility and Fleet Maintenance Section

The Facility and Fleet Maintenance Section provides services for all City owned facilities, vehicles and equipment which includes Woodburn City Hall, City Hall Annex Building, Maintenance Building, Drinking Water Building, Wastewater and Collections Building, Police Department Building, Public Library, Aquatics Center and other publically owned buildings. The project requests are assessed, safety measure precautions are established and carried out, and code compliancy is primary prior to project completion. The Fleet Maintenance personnel have established guidelines for maintaining City vehicles and providing fast turn-around time to prevent any disruption in schedules

Grounds Maintenance Section

The Parks, Grounds, and Improved Right of Way Maintenance Section (Grounds Maintenance) was moved from under the management of the Public Works Maintenance Division to under the management of the Urban Services and Transit Division on July 29, 2011.

The Grounds Maintenance Section maintains the City Park system, landscaping of City Buildings, Front Street South and Front Street North Linear Park ways, the Trail System and Natural Areas.

There are 16 parks in the City of Woodburn inventory from the largest, Centennial Park, 25 acres and multi-use Sports fields and Sport court, to the smallest, Cowan Park, 0.2 acres patterned after an English Key Rose Garden. There are currently 40 different sites that are being maintained by the Grounds Maintenance Section. These include Parks, Building Grounds, Linear Parkways, Trails, Well sites and Natural areas.

Services provided are Daily Restroom cleaning, litter pickup, and garbage removal. Mowing Parks, Athletic fields, Grounds, also fall under this sections responsibility. Sports field maintenance and setup, Irrigation maintenance, Playground maintenance, Weed abatement, Graffiti and Vandalism are also some of the duties performed daily. Support and setup for Special Events in the Parks, Plaza, and Community from Volunteer projects like the Gazebo at the Plaza to the garbage removal during the Woodburn Proud twice yearly cleanup of the City's Right of Way. The entire staff takes pride in beautifying the City's Parks, Grounds, and Improved Right of Way.
