Library Book Club

Come and talk about books with us! We're having our Book Club at lunchtime, so please feel free to bring your own lunch. The Library will provide coffee, cookies, and pop for everyone. New readers are always welcome!

Next Meeting:
Thursday, April 8, 2010
12pm - 1pm
Carnegie Room

We'll be discussing To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

We invite YOU to join us! As Harper Lee's narrator, young Scout Finch, tries to draw out a reclusive neighbor, she bears witness to a racially charged trial that shapes the character of her Alabama community.

Please spend some time over the next month reading this beloved American classic, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and voted best novel of the twentieth century by librarians across the country. You can check the book out of the library if you don't already own a copy (just ask at the Circulation Desk). Come on April 8 ready to talk about prejudice, justice, and conscience.

Future Meetings:

May 13, 2010
Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson
After experiencing great kindness in a remote Pakistani village, the author embarked on a one-man mission to counteract extremism by building schools throughout the breeding ground of the Taliban. This is an amazing and inspiring true story.

June 10, 2010
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
Set in an Oregon mental hospital, this novel chronicles the conflicts and struggles between Randle McMurphy, a happy-go-lucky inmate, and the tyrannical Nurse Ratched. Which will triumph: the powerful institution or the resilient human spirit?

July 8, 2010
Back When We Were Grownups by Anne Tyler
After presiding over a disastrous family picnic in Baltimore, fifty-three-year-old Rebecca Davitch suddenly begins to question who she is...and how she has turned into someone other than herself. The story of how she answers this question is beguiling, funny, and deeply moving.
