Legion Park Improvement Project
In planning for the second phase of work at Legion Park, we have created a draft Master Plan that forms an updated vision for the re-development of the entire park. Phase 2 features that are incorporated into the plan focus on improvements to the north half of the park and include an artificial turf soccer field with new sports field lighting, a comprehensive paved pathway system with exercise stations, expanded play areas, a concrete basketball court, and an amphitheater. Implementation of this plan would involve replacing the existing stadium with bleacher seating along the south side of the new soccer field. The existing building at the southeast corner of the soccer field would be converted back into a concession stand and the decommissioned restrooms that are accessible from the outside of that building would also be brought back into service.
The City recognizes the many benefits associated with implementing an Adopt-A-Park program. In creating an Adopt-A-Park program, the City of Woodburn will be able to provide local citizens the opportunity to help beautify and care for city parks while assisting the City in maintaining clean, safe, and attractive parks for its citizens.
The Parks & Facilities Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining eleven developed park sites throughout the City. The attractiveness of many of the parks can be enhanced with the assistance of involved citizens and organizations willing to donate their time and efforts in support of park maintenance and beautification programs. If you are interested in adopting a park please call 503-982-5388 or email at email@example.com.
The development of Woodburn's parks and recreation facilities is guided, in large part, by the following planning documents:
