Heather Pierson Given Mary Tennant Excellence Award
City Administrator Scott Derickson announced that Heather Pierson will receive the Mary Tennant Award for Excellence in Service at Monday's City Council meeting. Pierson currently serves as the City Recorder.
The award is Woodburn's highest honor for service, ethics and professionalism.
"I can't think of a more deserving person than Heather to give this award to," Derickson said. "She regularly goes above and beyond the call of her position and is always there to help coworkers and the public."
Pierson has been the City Recorder since November 2012. Prior to her current role, Pierson worked as the executive legal assistant, court administrator and at the wastewater treatment facility, starting in 2007.
"It's definitely an honor to be recognized, especially looking at the other names on this award," Pierson said. "It's a privilege to get an award named after Mary Tennant because of her longtime dedication and commitment to the City and residents of Woodburn. I really appreciate the opportunities and support Scott has given me over the years, as well as my coworkers. It is really a great place to work."
Derickson said having Pierson at the City makes it a better place for everyone.
"I believe Heather reflects both the practice and spirit of the Mary Tennant Award for Excellence," Derickson added. "Her responsibilities include a variety of high level and critical functions including elections, record archiving and online information and she does it all with dedication, integrity and tremendous customer service. I am honored to have her on our team and there is no question we are better for it."
